With the start of a new season and new beginnings upon us all, life can feel pretty hectic. It’s sometimes difficult to get away from the noise of the outside world if you have nowhere to go to. Create a sacred space for yourself. I think alone time is one of the most important parts of my day. Being by myself allows me the time to reflect on who I am, what I need, what I want, and how I feel. Without the recognition of self we can get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday activity if we don’t stop to breath and think, “how is this affecting me?”
Your sacred space could be your bedroom or another room of choice. How you create this sacred space is entirely up to you. I like to turn down the lights, light some candles and incense then sit with my healing gemstones and let my thoughts pass by my minds eye. Sometimes when I don’t feel like meditating I will sit and write for an hour. I write my thoughts, I write poetry, and sometimes I just doodle. Whatever you do in your sacred space is up to you but should be for you.
Choose a place or spot that you can go to everyday and turn off the world. Turn off your phone, the music, the kids, your friends, and any outside issues that are causing you stress. Take a moment or two to really listen to your body and breath. Give yourself the gift of sitting alone in silence. Being alone isn’t about feeling alone. Being alone can teach us to love ourselves. So many great moments can be born from being alone with yourself and accepting who you are. “When you know yourself you are empowered. When you accept yourself you are invincible.”
