Some one told me the other day that they “don’t eat bad foods.” I didn’t think much about the comment until later…
What makes a food bad?
How can food even be bad?
If I eat these “bad foods” am I bad?
If I eat “good foods” does that make me a good person?
This is what I think…
There is no such thing as bad food. Food is food. Food has a negative or a positive effect on our health, but there is no such thing as good food or bad food. Sugar is a bad food, right? No, not right. Sugar is not out to get anyone and has never plotted to cause you to gain weight or rot your teeth. Why is it that we label food good and bad? Is it easier to not crave sugar if we label it as evil? What is good and healthy for one person may cause disturbances and imbalances in another person. Food is neutral; it is neither good nor evil. Knowing what is good for YOUR body is what’s important. I say forget the labels. Lets break free of labeling what we consume. Eat freely what feels right for your body. I’m not saying go out and eat a tub of ice cream. I’m saying to listen and become more sensitive to what your body is telling you about the foods you are consuming. Giving your body the proper nutrients will lead you to optimal health.
