Myth #2: Practicing Ayurveda means eating Indian food.

Since Ayurvedic medicine has its roots in India, it is logical to expect a wide variety of  indian recipes tailored to suit the needs of a person seeking to adjust their diet to aid any imbalance they have. However, all food is matter comprised of the same elements that compose the whole universe; so all naturally occurring and whole food from anywhere can be adapted to eat from an ayurvedic perspective. For example, Spices -such as our own beloved salt, pepper ,parsley and basil- have qualities that can be used deliberately in order to bring about a particular balance to a dish. It’s not just about curry or tumeric. Once you are able to identity all food for the properties it contains it can all be enjoyed while being used as medicine.
