Preparation- you can take it with you

My main focus while packing for my 5-day camping trip was on the food I needed to bring. I decided to prepare meals that would be easy to pack and not complicated to eat. Since I prepared  everything in advance I was able to stay on top of my food intake and not go hungry( And not spend too much $$$$ on pricey festival food). I packed dry foods as well as prepared meals to go in my cooler.

I put together a bag of dry foods for “on the go” when I didn’t have time for a real meal:  Organic raw almond butter, coconut butter, raw honey, sprouted organic pumpkin and sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, goji berries, and a few other superfoods in a glass jar. The one thing I wish I hadn’t forgotten  was oatmeal! Oatmeal is such an amazing grain and so easy to take with you. I got all of my produce from farmigo and prepared 3 big containers of different things. My favorite meal I made was English peas and zucchini sautéed in ghee; it was simple and hearty. In another big container I packed chickpea coleslaw tossed in veganese mayo and lemon, which was delicious!!  The last large container was filled with a kale slaw with cucumbers and beets, tossed with lemon, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil. Each of these recipes couuld’t have been easier. The only down side was on my 3rd day the ice had melted in my cooler and water got into the container, flooding my slaw! Thankfully, I had 2 soups from farmigo to eat and happened to find some vegan gluten free foods at the festival (more on that later).

As you know before every meal I drink warm water with lemon to stimulate agni, so I squeezed the juice of 10 lemons into a glass jar and made my own natural concentrate. I packed big jugs of water and a pot to boil over our mini propane stove. I also drank lemon balm and dandelion tea all day long to keep hydrated and get my good herbs in while dancing in the hot sun. The preparation I did for the trip wasn’t any more or less than my friends but I didn’t feel bloated or tired. I also didn’t feel like I needed to go on a cleanse the minute I came back because I did my best to incorporate my daily routine while camping. You can take it with you!!
