The Power Within

Confidence is more than just feeling good about the way you look on the outside but more importantly feeling good about who you are on the inside. The things we think about ourselves have a greater impact on how we feel than most may realize. Saying negative things in your head is just as bad as saying them out loud. The energy we allow ourselves to carry affects our confidence and affects our lives.
You may not be able to control the things other people say about you but you most definitely have control over the things you say about you. It’s very important to treat yourself with the love and respect that you would anyone else.
The one exercise I constantly advise people to practice is positive affirmations. A positive affirmation can be anything from a saying you speak out loud to a mantra you say in your head. Even on the worst of days (the best time to try this) I look at myself in the mirror and I say, “You are strong, beautiful, and worthy!”
When I first started practicing affirmations out loud I didn’t know what to say. Over time I learned to meditate and focus on what felt missing to me, that day, and from there I would place a positive affirmation.
This practice benefits not only your confidence but it builds your inner strength and allows your soul to overcome obstacles that might be hindering some personal growth. Positive thinking and the use of affirmations is a great way to get on a path towards healing. Healing emotional wounds especially!
Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some (themed) positive affirmations. I encourage you to try this exercise and give it an honest shot. I always say, “you never know until you try it!” This is one of those times you might be stepping out of your comfort zone and into a realm of emotions you did not know existed…that’s okay! It’s actually a really great thing to feel emotions!
